NATIONAL FLAG OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN

The national Flag of the Republic of Kazakhstan is a rectangular cloth of blue color with the image of the sun with rays in the center, under which is a soaring eagle. The flagpole has a national ornament in the form of a vertical stripe. The image of the sun, its rays, an eagle and a national ornament is the color of gold. The ratio of the Flag’s width to its length is -1: 2.

According to the law of heraldry, the silhouette of the sun is a symbol of wealth and abundance. Therefore, it is not by chance that, when carefully examined, the rays of the sun in our flag simultaneously have the shape of a grain-the basis of abundance and well-being.

The steppe eagle or Golden eagle occupies a special place in the nomad worldview. Its image in the coats of arms and flags of the peoples and ethnic groups that inhabited Kazakhstan has a long tradition.

In the language of symbolism silhouette of eagle means state power, breadth and sagacity. For the steppe people, it is a symbol of freedom, independence, striving for goals, for heights, and flight into the future.

However, the eagle, having a powerful force, is able to give a worthy rebuff to anyone who tries to prevent the achievement of the future. The silhouette of an eagle has arisen and from idea of aspiration of young sovereign Kazakhstan in the height of world civilization.

Another element that gives novelty and uniqueness to our flag is a strip parallel to its Flagstaff, consisting of a national ornament. The Kazakh ornament “Koshkar-muiz – RAM’s horns”is depicted here.

To the right and left of Shanyrak are images of mythical winged horses. In the upper part there is a three-dimensional five-pointed star, and in the lower part-the inscription “Kazakhstan”. The image of a star, Shanyrak, uyks, mythical winged horses, as well as the inscription “Kazakhstan” – the color of gold.

NATIONAL ANTHEM OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN

The national anthem is one of the main symbols of the state. The term “hymn” itself comes from the Greek word “gimneo” and means “solemn song”. The anthem serves as an important sound symbol that is of key importance for effective socio-political consolidation and ethno-cultural identification of the country’s citizens.

In the history of independent Kazakhstan, the national anthem of the country was approved twice – in 1992 and in 2006.

After the Republic gained state sovereignty in 1992, a competition was announced for the music and lyrics of the national anthem of Kazakhstan. As a result of the competition, it was decided to keep the musical version of the anthem of the Kazakh SSR. Thus, the authors of the music of the first Kazakh national anthem were Mukan Tulebayev, Evgeny Brusilovsky and Latif Hamidi. The competition for the best text was also won by the author’s team, represented by famous poets: Muzafar Alimbayev, Kadyr Myrzaliev, Tumanbay Moldagaliev and the poet Zhadyra Daribayeva.

In order to promote the country’s sound symbolism, a new national anthem was adopted in 2006. It was based on the popular Patriotic song “Menin Kazakstanym”. It was written in 1956 by Shamshi Kaldayakov based on poems by Zhumeken Nazhimedenov. To give the song a high status of the national anthem and a more solemn sound, the First President of Kazakhstan-Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev finalized the original text. The Parliament of Kazakhstan at a joint session of the chambers on January 6, 2006 amended the Decree “on state symbols” and approved the new national anthem of the country.
