In 2013, the President amended the Decree “On professional and other holidays in the Republic of Kazakhstan” and established the second Sunday in September as Family Day. “In our society, the family has always been and will remain the guardian of spiritual and cultural traditions, a link between different generations. Family Day contributes to the strengthening of spirituality and morality in our society, the unconditional recognition of the importance of the responsibility of the spouses” , Nursultan Nazarbayev said in his first congratulatory message on the occasion of the Family Day.
